ProTek’s blend of professionalism and technology, incorporating elite performance and great styling, was inspired by the people that keep us safe on a daily basis – First Responders. People working in the fields of Law enforcement, SWAT, Tactical, Military, Fire Fighters appreciate the unique combination of performance features that ProTek watches provide.
Timepiece Innovator
The ProTek Brand comes from watch industry veteran Barry Cohen, founder and former owner of Luminox Watch. In 1989, Cohen wanted to create a brand with a USP (unique selling point) to separate it from watches on the market. He sought a technology to accomplish this goal and found a firm specializing in self-powered illumination. He reasoned that if a watch could include continuous illumination, it would solve an age-old dilemma of not being able to read time in the dark. The firm granted him exclusive use of the technology in the American market for 10 years, and this is how the Luminox brand came to be.
With this superior lume technology, major retailers such as The Sharper Image and Cabela's, recognized a business opportunity and began carrying the brand. Shortly thereafter, Luminox led the watch market in two categories: tritium gas illuminated timepieces and tactical style watches.
Eventually, nearly a dozen brands emerged in the tactical watch category, and almost 100 other companies pursued the same illumination for timepieces in their brands. Suffice to say, Cohen had created a movement. After 27 years, Cohen left his former company but is now back in the category with his new brand: ProTek.
ProTek builds its watches to outfit those that work in difficult environments using only quality components able to stand up to the rigors of harsh extremes. Cases are made from Carbon Composite, 316L Stainless Steel, or Titanium, and all employ screw-on case backs (most also have screw crowns) to ensure water resistance. Dive watches are rated to either 300 or 200 meters and Land-based watches are rated to 100 meters. All crystals are highly scratch resistant sapphire for durability, and with antireflective coatings to eliminate glare for clear viewing. Watches come on genuine rubber straps or specially treated waterproof Italian leather straps. The watches run on dependable Japanese quartz movements (from Miyota, a division of Citizen) ensuring many years of problem free wear and enjoyment. New models with automatic mechanical Seiko movements are in development now for 2024 release.
OFFICIAL
United States Marine Corps
LICENSED WATCH COLLECTIONProTek watches have now been approved and accepted as an Official Watch of the USMC. We are very proud of this accomplishment. The accuracy, durability and superior ProGlo™ illumination make these ideal timepieces to serve Marines in the line of duty, and/or in their daily lives beyond their time in the military.
With this said, we hope this stamp of credibility will also inspire anyone that may not have served in the Marine Corps but who enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle to feel confident in wearing a ProTek watch.

All ProTek watches are manufactured in a dust-free clean-room environment to ensure the highest quality end product. All watches have sapphire crystals with antireflective coatings, run on dependable Japanese Miyota (a division of Citizen) quartz movements or Seiko Automatic movements, and of course all use the ProGlo self-powered illumination system that enables them to glow non-stop for 25 years, allowing for time-at-a-glance even in complete darkness.
For our Series 2000 Dive watches, we chose waterproof leather to dress them up a bit. Our leather straps have been treated for use in water and this treatment dramatically alters the performance of leather in a wet environment. Most leather straps begin life a bit stiff and need some break-in to become softer and more pliable. When they get wet they tend to become very brittle and will crack, usually seen first where the buckle closes on the strap. This is not the case with our treated leather straps, that begin life soft and supple, get more pliable with use … and if worn in water they will mold to one's wrist and become even softer and will not crack.
All Leather straps have one fixed loop to stay near to the buckle so it doesn’t slide, while the second loop is adjustable, sliding up and down the strap to your desired position. Depending on the model, straps come in black, dark brown or dark tan, most with contrast stitching for a sporty look. Most buckles are done in steel tone to match the cases but one model has a gunmetal plated buckle to match that case.
Rubber dive straps are also available for purchase.
